For 23rd March, National Reflection Day

 

The 23rd of March marks an exact year since the UK went into lockdown in 2020 and since that time the human cost of this pandemic and its knock on effects is something difficult to even grasp.

It has been marked as a day of reflection, remembering the people who have passed during this time. I think especially of the brave men and women in the health services who came out of retirement to help in a time when so much about Covid 19 was unknown, and the appalling lack of PPE made such decisions indescribably heroic.

Despite the near full stop that's happened since, to life as we know it - time marches on and that is the biggest tragedy of this - Not just the loss of life itself, but the loss of living. The experiences we would have had, the added difficulty of grief in a time without the possibility of human touch; when a simple hug isn't simple at all.

For this and a whole host of other reasons too personal to write about, I wanted to make something in commemoration of the significance of this day, These items are available both at Oddfish and on MP as a gift that you can pass on as my small way of contributing.

Together is really the best way that we'll get through this. Let's look after each other.

SOTW this week : Inspired by Mothers.

 

Mothering Sunday just passed in the UK and that is really what inspired me to make these pieces. I haven't seen my own mother now for almost a year and then some because of Covid and the restrictions on travel.

It is unfortunate that some of us still cannot simply be with or hug the people we love! It is truly amazing to think that a little hand written note can do so much to lift your spirits. That human touch is more important now than at any other time - when so many people are feeling isolated, and when social interaction seems like a distant half forgotten memory. It's vital to let the people you love know you think of them and care about them as much as you can, as often as you can. 

We will hug again <3

This month is the huge drive for relay for life which is  the  ACS fund raiser. Purple Sloth Productions are organizing a lovely event that I've made a few things specially for:

SOTW this week

This week, I've made these toothachingly cute smores :

They're really too cute to be edibles so I've scripted them up with some bento poses. I've also put them in a display like this :

My apologies again for the late updates and I totally managed to miss writing anything up on the last SOTW which , if you didn't catch it , were party hats.

That was a rather fun project 

as I developed a script with SC so that the party hats and horns assemble themselves on rez from a library of textures. This makes for some rather fun and random variety which I personally think is exactly what is nice for a party!
